Vegetable Voyages" was a feature in the Official Popeye Fan Club publication. The idea for it was that one member would write an episode of a fictional adventure story and end their episode with a cliffhanger. Another member would pick up where the first left off and continue the story, again ending the episode with a cliffhanger. A third member would write an episode, etc. for as long as members continued to contribute.
The premise from which all episodes would be based was a parody of "Star Trek" with the Thimble Theatre characters filling in for the crew of the "Enterprise." The Sea Hag has managed to destroy all the spinach on Planet Earth. Earth scientists discover a planet in outer space covered entirely with the leafy vegetable and Popeye and crew are sent in the "S.S. Olive" to find it. The Sea Hag is determined to stop him.
