1) It must (obviously) be Popeye related or at least have a Thimble Theatre relevant page somewhere within the site. We'll link directly to that page.
2) It must be family oriented.. A website full of Popeye 8-pagers (pornographic comic books), as educational, informative and entertaining as they may be, won't get a link from this site.
3) It must be a not for profit website. No business sites please.
Other than that anything goes. Below is our present collection of links to Thimble Theatre related websites. If you have others you'd like to suggest just click on the .LINK.to send us an email.
As the name implies, this is The Official Popeye Fan Club, sanctioned by King Features Syndicate, with an international membership.
This is an excellent, well designed and attractive site (we're envious) with lots of information and unusual photos and graphics. Don't pass this one up.
LOTS of information on this page. Pastor Steve is a member of the Popeye Fan Club and a regular contributor to their publication. This guy knows his stuff! The site is heavy on the animation aspect of Popeye, exspecially on the Famous Studios films. But that's not a bad thing. Better pack a lunch before you click the link because you'll be there for a while.
Another well done, visually attractive Popeye site.
This is a static page meaning it hasn't been updated in quite a while. It's still a cute, interesting site.
This site is concerned with all comic strips and not just the Thimble Theatre. But it has a good section on Popeye. The rest of the site is nothing to sneeze at either.
The owners of The Thimble Theatre and all its characters, KFS also owns the rights to other famous strips such as Blondie, Beetle Bailey, Prince Valiant, etc..
The National Lum and Abner Society.
OK, you're right, this isn't a Popeye related website, a clear violation of rule #1. But it's a sister organization to the Popeye Fan Club. We help them with their convention and they help us with ours. We also have many mutual members. Lum and Abner were a famous radio team in the 30s, 40s and 50s who also made several films and inspired many imitators. If you're at all interested in old time radio this is the site for you.
George Wildman (in case you haven't been paying attention) drew the Popeye comic books for several years and is still an active member of the fan club as well as a repeat guest at the Popeye Picnic. This is his personal website.
